As a Corporate Lawyer in the Insurance legal team, you’ll play a trusted advisory role, supporting both our Life and General Insurance businesses in Australia. Reporting to the Head of Legal - Insurance, this role helps the business move forward with confidence by providing clear, practical legal advice that balances risk, regulation, and commercial outcomes.
You’ll work closely with product, compliance, and complaints teams, as well as senior leaders, to enable strategic initiatives, protect Zurich’s reputation, and support our ambition to be a more digital, customer focused insurer. Your advice will help shape products, partnerships, and decisions that genuinely make a difference for our customers and communities.
You will also be responsible for the following:
- Providing timely, commercially focused legal advice across life insurance, general insurance and broader financial services matters.
- Identifying and managing legal, regulatory, and governance risks to support informed business decision making.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, including distribution and partnership agreements.
- Supporting product teams with policy wordings, disclosure documents and design, and distribution obligations.
- Assisting with regulatory engagement, investigations, and complaints matters, including superannuation complaints.Contributing to continuous improvement of legal processes, ways of working and team capability.

You’re a thoughtful and collaborative legal professional who enjoys working close to the business. You bring sound judgement, a calm approach under pressure, and a genuine desire to help others succeed while delivering outcomes that align with Zurich’s values.
In order to be successful, you will have the following:
- A law degree and current Practising Certificate to practice law in New South Wales.
- At least 4 years post qualification experience in financial services law, ideally across life insurance, general insurance, or superannuation.
- Demonstrated experience drafting policy wordings and product disclosure documents.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply legal advice in a practical, commercial context.
- Experience navigating complex legal issues, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships
